Settle takes increased role with Transylvania Athletics Sports Information Department

Lexington, Ky. – The Transylvania University Athletics Department has elevated Assistant Sports Information Director Neal Settle to a full-time role as he returns to Transy for his second year, announced Vice President for Enrollment and Student Life, Dr. Holly Sheilley on Friday.

"We have been lucky to have Neal in a part-time position with us this past year," said Sheilley. "He has done a stellar job and we are excited to welcome him full-time to the staff."

"During his time at Transylvania, our Sports Information Department has been able to expand coverage of our many athletics teams in multidimensional ways, and Neal's contributions and skill set have been significant in making those new strides," added Sports Information Director Justin Sweeney. "I and the athletics department as a whole are thrilled for Neal to amplify his involvement with Transylvania Athletics as we aim to promote our teams in their ascents to the next level."

Settle has been involved with the Transylvania Athletics department in various capacities since January 2016 when he joined the athletics department first as an intern within the Sports Information Department. In July of 2016, Settle joined the Transylvania Athletics staff as a part-time Assistant Sports Information Director, specializing in gameday operations, event management, pregame and postgame team coverage, website maintenance, and other critical administrative duties.

Since his arrival, Transylvania's athletic communications ventures have explored new frontiers, including the production of 16 digital media guides, full live streaming video offerings for men's and women's lacrosse contests, and the 2017 NCAA Division III Softball Super Regional in Lexington.

A Frankfort, Kentucky native, Settle obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies with a double minor in Athletic Coaching and Psychology from Kentucky State University in 2014. He continued his educational pursuits at Eastern Kentucky University, graduating in 2016 with a Master's Degree in Physical Education: Sports Administration.

Settle's versatile background equips him aptly as an athletic communications professional; the Eastern Kentucky graduate also served five years as an assistant high school basketball and soccer coach at the Frankfort Christian Academy from 2011 through 2015.

Settle and the Transylvania Athletics department are gearing up for a compelling 2017-2018 season, providing support and coverage for 27 sponsored varsity programs at Transylvania University.
