FRANKLIN, Ind. -Ashley Cobane (Nicholasville, Ky.) and Amy Ghibaudy (Lexington, Ky.) each powered home two goals Saturday, lifting Transylvania to a 5-0 win over Franklin in Heartland Conference women's soccer play.
Winners of five of its last six matches, Transy is 12-3-1 on the season, 6-1 in HCAC play. The Grizzlies are 3-10-1, 0-6-1 HCAC. The Pioneers came into the contest tied with Earlham and Mt. St. Joseph in the HCAC race and both won on Saturday.
Cobane got the Pioneers on the board first when she converted a pass from Kristin Tenhundfeld (W. Chester, Ohio) in the 29th minute. Cobane then had the assist on a score by Michelle Schroeck (Fairfield, Ohio) just 45 seconds before halftime.
Ghibaudy and Cobane then combined for all three second half goals for Transy, all of which came over the last 12 minutes of the game. Ghibaudy, a freshman, leads the Pioneers with 10 goals on the year while Cobane, a sophomore, has six.
Transy had a 36-3 edge over the Grizzlies in shots and Kara Hansel (Florence, Ky.), who had one save, got the win in goal.
The Pioneers are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Mt. St. Joseph for a 7 p.m. match. The regular season will conclude on Saturday with a Senior Day matchup with Anderson at 3:30 p.m. at Hall Field.
