GAMBIER, Ohio - Transylvania's Natosha Boden (Nicholasville, Ky.) scored on a deflection five minutes into overtime Wednesday, giving the Pionners a 2-1 women's soccer victory over Kenyon in the season opener for both teams.
Transy is 1-0 on the season while Kenyon is 0-1.
The Pioneers took a 1-0 lead in the first half on a goal by sophomoreAshley Cobane (Nicholasville, Ky.) . Kenyon tied it 15 minutes into the second half and the two teams battled evenly throughout the rest of regulation.
Kenyon had 10 shots, including six on goal, while Transy managed 13 shots, eight on goal. Transy keeper Cori Hickman (Newark, Ohio) had five saves.
The Pioneers are back in action this weekend, taking on Asbury Friday in the Centre College Soccer Showcase at 6 p.m. Transy will play Wooster at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
