Box Score DANVILLE, Ky. - Transylvania spotted Centre a 3-0 lead in the first 16 minutes Thursday and the Colonels went on to hand the Pioneers a 5-1 loss in the women's soccer season opener for both teams.

The Pioneers are 0-1 on the season while Centre is 1-0.

Centre tallied three goals in the early going, all scored by Morgan Collins. Mary Taylor Kersey had three assists.

Transy's goal was scored by Amy Ghibaudy (Lexington, Ky., Lex. Catholic), who got on the board at the 21:45 mark when she converted a loose ball.

Centre led 4-1 at halftime and outscored the Pioneers 1-0 in the second half.

Centre had an 8-7 edge in shots on goal. Transy keeper Kara Hansel (Florence, Ky., Notre Dame Acad.) had three saves in the net.

The Pioneers return to action this weekend in the Marietta Invitational. Transy takes on Point Park (Pa.) Saturday at 2 p.m. and host Marietta Sunday at 2 p.m.
