Box Score LEXINGTON, Ky. - Transylvania and Hanover battled to a 1-1 tie over 110 minutes Thursday before the Pioneers took a 7-6 decision on penalty kicks, advancing to the finals of the Heartland Conference Women's Soccer Tournament.

The Pioneers (11-5-2) scored first, getting a goal from Alyssa Kruse at the 56:21 mark. Neither team scored in the first half.

It didn't take long for the Panthers (13-4-2) to tie the contest as Rachel Alvis scored less than one minute later. That would be the final score of the contest.

Transy outshot the visitors by a 24-6 margin, including an 8-5 edge in shots on goal. Transy took all eight of the corner attempts. Transy keeper Jerrica Scovel had four saves for the Pioneers.

With the win, Transy advances to the finals of the HCAC tournament. No. 1 seed Earlham topped Manchester 2-0 and will host the Pioneers on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the league's bid to the NCAA tournament on the line. Transy is seeking its first NCAA bid since the 2010 season, when Transy traveled to Earlham and took a 2-0 win. Transy also topped Hanover on the road in the HCAC finals in 2009.

Transy lost at Hanover 1-0 during regular season play and the Pioneers lost to the Panthers in last year's HCAC tourney semifinals on penalty kicks, 4-2.

Each team connected on its first six attempts on penalty kicks after two overtime periods yielded no scores. For Transy, Ashley Cobane, Awbrey Wahle, Dani Kane, Anne Marie Dumaine, Abby Felthaus, and Natosha Boden each converted penalty tries before Michelle Schroeck got the game-winner when she connected and Hanover's Hannah Barker misfired.
