LEXINGTON Ky. - The Transylvania women's soccer team fell in a close physical battle Wednesday to the undefeated Centre Colonels by a count of 2-0 at Hall Field.
The Colonel, who are currently ranked No. 13 on the latest NCAA Division III coaches soccer poll move, to 6-0 on the year, while Transy's loss moves them to 3-2-1 on the season.
Both of the Centre goals came off dead ball opportunities when Katie Stevenson connected unassisted after a corner kick in the 30
th minute. The Colonels connected for their second goal in the 67
th minute when Mary Taylor Kersey pushed in a header off the penalty kick served in by Maddie Slattery.
Transy had nine shots with five on goal while Centre also notched nine attempts with four being on goal. The Pioneers keeper, Jessica Scovel, had two saves on the contest.
The Pioneers will return to action this Saturday as they travel to take on Otterbein College.
