LEXINGTON, Ky. - Transylvania exploded for 11 goals Saturday, including three from
Alyssa Kruse, and the Pioneers went on to blank outmanned Anderson 11-0 in women's soccer action at Hall Field.
The win moved the Pioneers to 5-2-1 on the season, 1-0 in Heartland Conference action. The Ravens are 0-10, 0-1 HCAC.
Transylvania scored early and often against an Anderson team that had only two substitutes. Kruse's third goal of the year made it 1-0 just four minutes into the contest. In the first 23 minutes, Transy added goals by
Abby Felthaus (who scored the second and third goals), Kruse again, and
Kelsey Meece.
It was Meece's first goal of the year while Kruse would eventually add her fifth of the year six minutes into the second half. Felthaus' goals were the third and fourth of the season.
Eden Mack got in on the scoring with a pair of goals late in the first half, her first two of the year. She would also add a third in the 60th minute.
Anne Marie Dumaine and
Andi Martin completed the scoring late in the contest. It was the season's first score for both.
Jerrica Scovel started in goal for the Pioneers, and was credited with two saves.
Ashley Cobane made her collegiate debut in goal in the second half, but did not face a shot.
Transy took 38 shots on the day, 22 on goal, compared to two for the Ravens. Anderson keeper Danielle Gilles had 11 saves. Transy also had all six of the game's corners.
Mack and Dumaine also had assists during the game.
Transy is back in action on Monday when it visits Wittenberg for a non-conference matchup. The Pioneers are at Hanover on Wednesday.
