Box Score LEXINGTON, Ky. --- Under the lights on a perfect fall night and on a three game winning streak, the Pioneers hosted Mt. Saint Joseph in conference soccer action. With three conference games remaining, both teams came into tonight's game looking to solidify their case to make the conference tournament the first week in November.
The first half saw a flurry of offensive activity from both teams with Mt. Saint Joseph striking first on a goal from Taylor Clark. With the Pioneers offense zeroing in taking 4 shots on goal, the fifth was the magic number with Freshman Midfielder Maddie Sjogren punched in a headed at 5:44 left in the first half. Sjogren's header came from the right side on a precision pass from teammate Lindsey Sizemore to even up the score at 1-1. The second half would bring similar stat lines for both teams but the Lions capitalized on opportunities netting two goals in an 11 minute span. Mt. Saint Joseph got goals from Morgan Knasel and Kayla Gruber in the 61st and 72nd minutes.
Charlotte Pruet continued to get shots on goal taking 4 shots during the game. Cecilia Walton also added a shot to round out the totals for Transylvania. Total shots for the game gave the Lions a 10-8 advantage for the game.
The Pioneers (3-7-2, HCAC 3-2-1) will be back in action against Bluffton on Saturday, October 24 at Pat Deacon Stadium in conference action. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
