Box Score Cincinnati, Ohio – The Transylvania women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 result to the Mount St. Joseph Lions, 1 to 0 at Schueler Field on Wednesday night.
The Pioneers and the Lions battled to a standstill for most of the evening, yielding choice opportunities to one another but allowing little to no clearance at the final line.
Transylvania came out firing to begin the game, as sophomore midfielder Noel Obata and senior forward Erin Snyder each unleashed shots in the opening minutes. The Lions then took their turn over the next 10-minute stanza testing the alertness of senior goalkeeper Morgan Potts, who came up with two of her five match saves in the first 21 minutes of the contest.
The rest of the first half was a grapple between the Lions and the Pioneers, and each team headed to the half looking for their one pivotal moment in the final 45.
The one big moment arrived instead for the home team, as the Lions' Jasmine Cahill found the back of the net in the 68th minute for the lone goal of the contest.
Transylvania intensified its efforts to move the ball upfield, but were denied a potential equalizer by the Lions for the final 22 minutes of the evening as they dropped to 0-2-0 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
The Pioneers now return home for an extended homestand as they play five of their next six games at Pat Deacon Stadium.
Transylvania is back in action this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. as they host conference foe Defiance in hopes of gaining its first conference victory of the year.
