Box Score Ada, Ohio- The Transylvania women's soccer team withstood an offensive barrage from the Polar Bears of Ohio Northern University before finally succumbing to defeat by a final margin of 2-0.
Transylvania made a strong defensive showing in the first half, as they held Ohio Northern scoreless for most of the period despite significant offensive pressure from the Polar Bears.
However, with just under five minutes to go in the first half, junior defender Hannah Reich found the back of the net, leading to a 1-0 halftime lead for Ohio Northern.
The Pioneers were led offensively in the first half by sophomore forward Brenna D'Amico and junior defensive midfielder Morgan Janes, who each recorded a shot on goal.
The second half of the game would prove be a frustrating one for the Pioneers, as they were forced to withstand ten shots from the Polar Bears, while failing to fire off any of their own.
Senior goalkeeper Morgan Potts continued to build upon her already stellar season as she recorded 12 saves in the game. This strong performance propelled Potts to first place in total saves among HCAC goalkeepers with 38 on the year.
Up next, the Pioneers look to secure their first road win of the young season, as they travel to Sewanee, Tennessee next Saturday, September 17, to take on the Sewanee Tigers. The match is set for a 1:00 p.m. start from Puett field.
