Offense sputters as Pioneers fall to Anderson

Box Score

Anderson, Ind. – A pair of second-half goals proved to be too much to overcome for the Transylvania University women's soccer team as it lost 2-0 to the Anderson University Ravens at the AU Soccer Fields on Saturday afternoon.

The Pioneers' defense held strong throughout the early portion of the game as it limited the Ravens to only one shot on goal in the first half.

However, the Pioneers failed to create any offense of their own, and the two teams went into halftime still knotted up at 0-0.

The Ravens came out in the second half ready to seize the game as they scored twice in a 20-minute span, putting the match out of reach for the Pioneers.

Transylvania was led on offense by senior midfielder Ellie New, who recorded two shots on goal in the contest.

Up next the Pioneers will travel to Richmond, Indiana for a road matchup with the Earlham College Quakers on Wednesday, October 25.

First touch between the Pioneers and the Quakers is set for 3:30 p.m. at Matlack-Messer Stadium.
