North Manchester, Ind. – The Transylvania women's soccer team put its powerful offense on display in a 3-0 win over the Manchester University Spartans at Good Field on Saturday afternoon.

The win moves the Pioneers to 8-5-2 and 3-3-1 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play while the loss drops the Spartans to 2-12 overall and 1-7 in HCAC contests.

Transylvania looked to set the tone early and create pressure to force Manchester into mistakes. The Pioneers struck first, earning a penalty kick in the 26th minute. Emilie Yates stepped up to the spot and buried the shot to give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead.

The Pioneers were searching for a goal to extend the lead before halftime, and they delivered in the 38th minute. Allison O'Hara pounced on a defensive mistake from the Spartans and laced a shot that was saved directly into the path of Abby Baker. Baker slotted home the deflection to push the lead to 2-0 for the Pioneers heading into halftime.

Abby Dean and Baker teamed up to put the game away in the 62nd minute as Baker delivered an assist to Dean, who fired her shot past the Manchester goalkeeper to secure the 3-0 win for the Pioneers.

The Pioneers controlled the offensive pace by outshooting the Spartans, 17-6 with an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal.

The Pioneers will host their final regular season match of the year against the Franklin College Grizzlies on Wednesday, October 27. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Pat Deacon Stadium.
