Danville, Ky. – The Transylvania softball team opened the 2021 season with an explosive offensive performance in a 15-0 victory over the Centre College Colonels at Centre Softball Field on Friday afternoon.

The Pioneers sent Kameron Bowling to the circle to face off against the Colonels on Friday. The senior was dialed in throughout the afternoon, striking out 10 of the 17 batters she faced in a five-inning no-hitter.

Taylor Stamps started off the scoring for Transylvania in the top of the first inning when she drove in Becca Messing with an RBI double. Stamps later scored when Allyson O'Dell hit a triple to the wall. Alyssa Nunn capped off the three-run inning by driving in O'Dell with an RBI single.

Transylvania stormed ahead of Centre in the top of the second inning as the Pioneers turned six walks, two hits, and a hit-by-pitch into seven runs, pushing their lead to 10-0 over the Colonels after two frames.

In the third inning, Nunn added to the lead with an RBI single through the right side that scored Messing and Annie Schuck. In the bottom of the third, the Transylvania defense continued to hold off the Colonels with two strikeouts from Bowling and an electric play along the base path to catch a Centre runner attempting to steal third.

With the outcome of the game firmly in hand, the Pioneers continued to add to their lead with an RBI double to centerfield by Abby Frazier in the fourth inning and a two-RBI single via Kinsey Smith in the top of the fifth inning, pushing the final score to 15-0 in favor of the Pioneers.
