LEXINGTON- The Transylvania Women's Soccer team was back at Pat Deacon Stadium for the first round of the HCAC Tournament against the Franklin College Grizzlies. This game would seem familiar as the Pioneers and the Grizzlies played earlier this week where the Pios would pull out a 1-0 win. This game wouldn't be much different as the Pioneers figured out the Grizzlies to win in dominant fashion 3-0, moving the Pioneers to 13-4-1 and earning the first ever tournament win in the Ashley Reinecke and Marcus Aldaba era.
This game would be all Pioneers as Transy would hold most of the possession this game and starting hot scoring in the 2nd minute. A likely combo of
Meron Roach and
Isabella White ignited the Pioneer attack as White would provide the perfect pass to Roach to give Roach her fourth goal of the season . White wouldn't be silenced this game as she would be the catalyst in the second goal setting up
Abbey Rowe, to score before the half ended. White's second assist was her tenth of the season.
Transy tacked on their final goal of the game after
Meron Roach was fouded in the box, giving her the penalty kick as she put it top right for her second goal of the game. Transy would hold strong on the back line, as most of Franklin's shot attempts came from outside the box. The 3-0 win is the 10th shutout of the season for Transy
The Pioneers would outshoot the Grizzlies 12 to 8 as well as another clean sheet for
Carrie Stevens and
Sheridan Harrison.
With the dominant win tonight our Pioneers will head to the HCAC semifinals at Mount. St Joseph on October 31st.
