Box Score DANVILLE, Ky. - The Transylvania Women's Soccer team (3-0-1) traveled in state to rival Centre College (3-1-1).
The First Half
The first half was aggressive both ways, with a quick defensive mistake leading to the opening goal of the game within the first 10 minutes. The Pioneers would play more on their defensive side for much of the half following the goal with Isabella White and Erin Heil pressuring the Centre defense. Sheridan Harrison would continue her start in goal, earning five saves in the game. This half would remain 0-1 in Centre's favor as Transy would lag in shots, putting up three to Centre's six.
The Second Half
In the second half, Tara Pund made the halftime substitution in an effort to give the Pioneers another look, however this half started like last half, as Centre scored in the first three minutes to start the half. The half would see a lot of Transylvania defense until around the '73rd minute mark. Isabella White then cut the deficit in half. White would outpace her defender, narrowly setting herself up for a one on one with the goal keeper, capitalizing on the opportunity to put the game at 1-2. While this provided momentum for the Pioneers, it was blatant their offensive attack resulted in more positive results even if not resulting in a goal. The half would continue to become more physical, wearing down the Transylvanian defense, with Centre scoring the insurance goal with four minutes to go to win the game 1-3.
Up next for the Pioneers is a road trip to Illinois for two games, first with Knox College September 16th at 12 PM. This is followed by a trip to North Central College September 17th at 3 PM.
