Box Score LEXINGTON- The Transylvania women's soccer team (4-2-1) is back at Pat Deacon for their last game in out of conference play tonight, playing Fontbonne University (0-2-1). Transylvania is coming off a weekend trip in Illinois where they split 1-1 winning against Knox College and losing to North Central College.Â
The First Half
In the first half Meron Roach wanted to see if she could ignite her flame from this weekend shooting the first two shots of the game for the Pioneers. This opening 20 minutes was all Transylvania as the Roach attack softened the defense allowing Maddi Benjamin to carve out the defense to lay a ball for Isabella White to open the scoring for the Pioneers this game. White would score her 5th goal of the season with this one as Benjamin would apply her 2ns assist on the season. The momentum would exchange this half however with Fontbonne making adjustments of their own, probing the Pioneer defense. Fontbonne would end up scoring in the final minutes of the first half after the defense got sucked deep into the box. Halftime 1-1.  Â
The Second Half Â
In the second half the Pioneers would start this half like they would last half, taking shots and pressuring the Fontbonne defense. Roach and Benjamin both took shots to see if they could connect like earlier in the game but came up empty. That is until the 50th minute where Transy would score their second goal of the evening by Isabella White yet again, assisted by Erin Heil, earning her first assist of the season. The Pioneers would score their third goal of the game in the 71st minute, scored by first year Ciana Araya, giving her the first goal of her collegiate career. This goal would be assisted by Abbey Rowe who covered a lot of ground for the Pioneers tonight, scathing off the Fontbonne attack long enough to make the game fall into the Pioneers hands. Fontbonne would not concede easily scoring a second goal of the day in the 76th minute, however this goal would come too late as Transy was able to control the ball, and the clock to end this game 3-2 in favor of the Pioneers.
"I am very happy to come away with a win right before we open up our conference play." Co-head Coach Ashley Reinecke said. There were moments of real quality, we looked confident in possession and capitalized on our chances, but we also let Fontbonne remain in the game.  We look forward to next week where we open up at home to Bluffton."  Â
Up next for the Pioneers marks the start to HCAC play as the Pios get to stay home as Bluffton University comes to Pat Deacon Wednesday September 27th at 7PM.
