LEXINGTON - Transylvania Softball split with Mount St. Joseph on Sunday afternoon, losing game one before rebounding in game two to move to 7-1 in conference play.
In a tightly contested game one, Transylvania suffered their first conference loss of the season 2-4.
Avery Parsons,
Jordan Fico,
Izzy Story, and
Carson Murray all had hits in the loss.
Transylvania scored first in the 2nd inning on an RBI double by
Carson Murray, and would score the final run of the game in the 5th inning on a single by
Jordan Fico.
Sophie Moshos pitched a complete game, giving up just 1 earned run while striking out 5 batters.
In game two, Transylvania rebounded right away with a 5 run 1st inning. It was the third time in their last 4 games that Transy scored 5 or more runs in the 1st.
Izzy Story singled to score
Dakota Burke to open the scoring for Transy.
Carson Murray made it 2-0 with a single to left field to score Story, and
Jordan Fico tacked on another run with a sacrifice fly.
Avery Parsons and
Ella Steczynski made it 5-0 with RBI base hits.
MSJ would score 2 runs in the third, but those would be the only runs that
Carlee Jeter would give up, as she pitched a complete game and finished with 4 strikeouts to improve to 9-3 on the season.
Ry'Ann Tharp's sacrifice fly in the 5th brought home
Ella Steczynski, and
Stella Wulker's RBI single to center field brought in
Dakota Burke for a 7-2 Transy lead.
Dakota Burke led the offense with 3 hits in the game two win. The Pioneer offense strung together 13 hits in the win.
At 7-1, the Pioneers stand at second in the HCAC standings, just one game behind Franklin (7-0).
Up next: Transy takes the short roadtrip to Asbury College next Saturday for a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is set for 2 PM.
