Game one: Transy 8, Wilmington 0
Carlee Jeter pitched the Pioneers' first perfect game in years to cap off a perfect Senior Day. Jeter pitched all 5 innings while her defense made plays to keep the perfect game in tact. Carlee struck out the final batter to complete it.
The Pioneers scored 5 of their 8 runs in the 1st inning, and the last 3 in the 2nd. Transylvania batted around in the 1st inning.
Ella Steczynski tripled to right center to score
Dakota Burke, and was brought in the next at bat as
Stella Wulker hit a sacrifice fly to give Transy the 2-0 lead.
Carson Murray hit 1 of her 2 home runs on the day to extend the lead to 3, and
Reagan Rouleau brought in
Avery Parsons on a single to widen their lead to 4. Later in the inning,
Izzy Story took home on Rouleau's stolen base to give TU the 5-0 edge after 1 inning.
In the 2nd,
Carson Murray hit her 2nd home run of the game, a 2 run shot to make it 7-0 Transy. It was her 7th home run of the season and her 2nd multi-home run game. Transylvania scored the game's final run as
Emily Hestand singled to left field and brought in
Izzy Story.
Game 2: Transy 14, Wilmington 2
The Pioneers scored 3 runs in the 1st inning on a wild pitch, an RBI groundout by
Stella Wulker, and got their 3rd run on a fake steal at first by
Izzy Story that made the catcher throw the ball to second base, giving
Carson Murray the opportunity to steal home.
After being held scoreless in the 2nd, Transylvania put up one of their biggest innings offensively this season, stringing together 11 runs to take a commanding 14-0 lead.
Izzy Story's bases loaded double to center field brought in 2 runs, and an error by the center fielder led to
Stella Wulker scoring from first base.
Ry'Ann Tharp's walk extended the lead further before
Dakota Burke's bases clearing triple pushed the Pioneer lead to 10-0. Burke would later score on a wild pitch.
Emily Shearer brought in a pair on a single to center field, and Transy's 14th run of the game came from
Addy Mack's sacrifice fly.
Sophie Moshos earned her 11th win of the season after pitching 3 innings and striking out 6 batters. She allowed just 3 hits.
Trinity Bridges threw 1.1 innings in relief.
Jada Erwin threw 0.2 innings and kept the Quakers scoreless as she finished the game in the circle.
Transy finishes the week 5-1 and gets TU their final home non-conference win of the regular season. The win moves Transylvania to 5-1 all time against Wilmington dating back to 2015.
The Pioneers have their biggest matchup of the season this Wednesday at John and Donna Hall Field as Franklin heads to Lexington for a Wednesday doubleheader at 4:30 and 6:30. At 12-2 in conference play back-to-back wins over Franklin would tie the 2 teams in the HCAC standings, and give the Pioneers an opportunity to at the very least clinch a share of the HCAC regular season crown if they take both games of next Saturday's doubleheader at Rose-Hulman.
