RICHMOND, Ind. - Transylvania Softball swept Earlham College on the road this afternoon and extended their win streak to four games. The Pioneers have now swept their last two opponents.
Carlee Jeter won her second game in a row to improve to 6-3 on the season. She had six strikeouts over 6.1 innings pitched.
Transylvania opened the scoring in game one in the second inning on an RBI single up the middle to score
Carson Murray and
Avery Parsons.
In the third inning Parsons brought in
Stella Wulker to make it 3-0 Transy. It was Parson's lone RBI of the game.
Katie Mewes made it 4-0 Pioneers with a sacrifice fly in the fourth to bring in Madelyn Giley. The Pioneers made it 5-0 on a sacrifice fly by
Ella Steczynski.
Earlham broke the shutout in the bottom of the seventh, but with two runners on Jeter got Earlham's Stump to groundout to end the game.
Jordan Fico was perfect in game one, finishing 3-3 with 2 RBI's.
In game two, the Pioneers earned their fifth shutout of the season behind
Sophie Moshos's second compete game shutout. She struck out nine batters and allowed just three hits the whole game.
Transylvania scored the game's only runs in the first inning.
Stella Wulker brought in the game's first run on an RBI groundout to the pitcher to score
Dakota Burke.
Avery Parsons groundout out to shortstop to bring in
Ella Steczynski for a 2-0 Transy lead.
Moshos held the Quakers scoreless to move to 6-2 on the season. Transylvania has outscored their last two opponents a combined 17-1 in the last four games.
The Pioneers combined for 6 hits in the game two win.
With the win, Transy begins conference play 2-0 ahead of their doubleheader matchup tomorrow at Anderson. Their doubleheader will begin at noon.
