MONTGOMERY, AL - Transylvania opened the 2025 NCAA Tournament on Thursday, falling to Emory 6-2 in their opening match up.

Emilie Young and RyAnn Tharp recorded hits in the loss. Emory scored two runs in the top of the second inning, followed by four in the top of the fourth to take a 6-0 lead. The Pioneers would respond, scoring two runs in the bottom of the fifth as Tharp and Mewes scored. Parsons and Rouleau earned RBI's for the runs.Â
Three pitchers made appearances in the loss,
Raegan Gibson,
Maddie Goddard and
Natalie Contreras.Â

Transylvania will take on Berry at 2:30 p.m. in an elimination game on Friday, as Berry was defeated by Huntingdon 4-1 earlier in the day. Should the Pioneers earn the victory tomorrow, they will advance to take on the winner of tomorrow's Huntingdon and Emory match up. The Region final will take place on Saturday at noon, with another game at 2:30 p.m. if necessary.Â
