MARIETTA, OHIO -Â Transylvania fell 2-0 to Marietta on the road Saturday in a hard-fought non-conference matchup. Despite a strong defensive effort and stretches of solid possession, the Pioneers were unable to break through on the offensive end.Â
Marietta scored both of their goals early in the first half, as Tati Grigoryan of Marietta scored just over a minute into the match, while Mallory Sullivan scored at the 16:45 mark to give Marietta the 2-0 lead. Transylvania applied pressure on the Marietta defense, taking 13 shots on Saturday to Marietta's 14.
Isabella White and
Teagan Fahy led the Pioneers with three shots each, while
Olivia Thomas attempted two.
Shelby Eidson,
Molly Robinson,
Gracie Carrigan,
Anna Pieralisi and
Kayla Hermann also attempted shots in the match.Â
Chandler Worth recorded an impressive 45 minutes in the goal, recording five saves for Transylvania.
Carrie Stevens recorded four in 45 minutes in the goal.Â
Transylvania returns to action on Wednesday, September 17th, traveling to Wittenberg for a 7:30 p.m. matchup.Â
