Women's Basketball Takes Down Manchester In HCAC Match Up

LEXINGTON, KY - Transylvania Women's Basketball won their home game
61-38 against Heartland Collegiate Athletic conference opponent
Manchester at the Clive M. Beck Center.

Transylvania had three players score in double figures with Sierra
Kemelgor being the leading scorer with 22 points. Keaton Hall was the
leading rebounder with six rebounds while Hannah Glisson dished out
four assists for the Pioneers.

Transylvania started slow as the score was 3-3, three minutes into the
game. The Pioneers were down 7-6 to the Spartans at the 5:00 minute
mark in the first quarter. Transylvania was down 9-6 but hit two three
pointers in row to retake the lead 12-9 with three minutes left in the
quarter. The Pioneers were leading 12-11 over the Spartans with a
minute left in the first quarter. At the end of the first quarter, the
Spartans held a 13-12 edge over the Pioneers. Sierra Kemelgor was the
leading scorer for the Pioneers in the first quarter with six points.

Less than one minute into the second quarter, Riley Flinn hit a three
pointer to retake the lead to make the score 15-13 Pioneers. With five
minutes left until halftime, the Pioneers held a 22-17 edge over the
Spartans. With a less than a minute left in the first half,
Transylvania held a 26-17 lead. The Pioneers had their largest lead in
the first half at the 0:14 mark in the second quarter leading over the
Spartans by 12 points. Transylvania's defense held the Spartans to six
points in second quarter. At halftime, the Pioneers were leading 29-19
over the Spartans. Sierra Kemelgor was the leading scorer for the
Pioneers in the first half with 11 points. The Pioneers shot 34.5
percent from the floor and 42.1 percent beyond the arc in the first
half.

After halftime, the Pioneers carried over the same energy and
increased their lead by 14 points. At the 5:00 minute mark in the
third quarter, the Pioneers held a 39-23 edge over the Spartans.
Transylvania increased their lead by 20 points with two minutes left
in the third quarter. After three quarters, the Pioneers were leading
48-28 over the Spartans. Transylvania outscored the Spartans 19-9 in
the third quarter.

With seven minutes left in the game, the Pioneers were leading by 25
points. With five minutes left in the game, Transylvania held a 58-31
lead over the Spartans. The Pioneers won 61-38 and now are 12-4 on the
season while 7-2 in conference play. The Pioneers shot 33.3 percent
from the floor and 37.1 percent beyond the arc during the game.

Transylvania returns home on Saturday, January 24th, 2026 when they
face off against Anderson University. Tip-off is set at 2:00 p.m.
