WILMINGTON, OHIO — Transylvania University women's soccer picked up a 2-1 road victory over Wilmington College on Tuesday night at Williams Stadium behind a two-goal performance from Olivia Thomas. The victory moved the Pioneers to 3-2-2 on the season.
Thomas opened the scoring in the 28th minute, finding the back of the net at 27:22 off an assist from Eva Blanke to put Transylvania ahead 1-0. Just over three minutes later, the duo connected again as Thomas scored her second goal of the night at 30:55, once again assisted by Blanke, to give the Pioneers a 2-0 advantage.
Carrie Stevens helped preserve the advantage throughout the remainder of the opening half. Stevens made four first-half saves, including a penalty-kick save in the 35th minute, as the Pioneers carried a 2-0 lead into halftime.
Wilmington cut the deficit in half when Jordan Snyder scored at 65:03 to make it 2-1. Transylvania kept the Quakers off the board the rest of the way, with Stevens adding two more saves in the second half to secure the road victory.
Thomas finished with two goals on two shots, both on target, while Blanke recorded assists on both Transylvania goals. Ginger Mooser added two shots with one on goal, while Teagan Fahy also put an attempt on frame.
Stevens played all 90 minutes in goal and finished with six saves. Transylvania recorded 11 shots with five on goal and held a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Transylvania returns to action on Saturday, September 26th, traveling to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) member Bluffton to start conference play.
