Noah Richter is in his fourth season as diving coach of Transylvania swimming and diving program for the 2022-2023 season.
Richter joined a restarted diving program for Transylvania during the 2019-20 season, a year which spurred immediate achievements for the Pioneers. Under Richter, the Pioneers solidified a winning tradition as two of his three divers earned All-HCAC honors. The Transylvania diving contingent made a notable splash in Richter’s first year with the Pioneers as Kateleigh Lorimer finished as the conference runner-up in the women’s 3-meter dive while Abbie Haynes took third. All three Transy divers under Richter finished top-10 at the HCAC Championships in his first campaign with the Pioneers.
Richter spearheaded a diving triumvirate which helped the Pioneer women’s swimming and diving team achieve its best finish at a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship as Transylvania captured a runner-up finish. Richter was a part of a coaching staff recognized as the HCAC Coaching Staff of the Year on the women’s side in 2020.
In the 2021-2022 season, Richter helped the women’s team again finish runner-up in the HCAC Championship, with diver Mackie Redford taking the title in the 3-meter dive for the second straight year. Developed by Richter, Redford became the first Transy diver ever to compete in the NCAA Regionals in 2022, held in San Antonio, Texas.
A former NCAA Division I diving athlete at the University of Kentucky, Richter joined the Transylvania swimming and diving program in fall of 2019.
The Transylvania swimming and diving program last fielded a diving team in the 2015-2016 season. Under the guidance of third-year head coach Dave Doolin, the program’s expansion has allowed for the reintroduction of the diving program at Transylvania.
“We’re very excited about having someone with Noah’s experience and background in diving joining our program here at Transy,” says Doolin. “By adding a diving team, this is one way our program will be able to compete on an annual basis for conference championships. Noah’s experience and demeanor and the way in which he interacts with athletes makes him a great addition to our staff and Transylvania athletic family.”
Richter brings six years of diverse coaching experience to the Transylvania swimming and diving program. He currently serves as the head diving coach for Fayette County Public Schools, coaching 30 high-school athletes in diving across five different high schools. Richter also is responsible for the coordination of dive meet events in this capacity.
Along with his role with Fayette County, Richter holds the title of Head Diving Coach at the Lexington Country Club, working with over 30 athletes and providing diving instruction. In his past, Richter has also worked as an assistant diving coach and head strength coach with the Kentucky Dive Club, entailing designing daily workouts and conditioning programs for divers.
As a collegiate athlete, Richter competed for Kentucky from 2013 through 2017 where he excelled as a diver for the Wildcats, recording top-10 program scores for platform diving and was named to the SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll multiple times.
