Greenwood, Ind. – Transylvania men's golfer Jack Berger was named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Golf Player of the Week for the week ending September 10, the conference announced Monday.
Berger, a junior from Louisville, Kentucky, enjoyed a career-best showing at this weekend's Dick Park Invitational hosted by Franklin College in Indianapolis, Indiana. The junior shot a two-round score of 145 to finish in a tie for second place on the individual leaderboard while the Pioneers took first-place at the event as a team.
Berger fired a 72 in Sunday's second round, the second-lowest round score of his career, to finish as the lowest-scoring golfer out of nine participating HCAC schools. Berger's two-round score was the lowest of his collegiate career.
Berger's 145 paced the Pioneers in finishing with a team score of 606, six strokes ahead of second-place Franklin. The junior also led the field in total birdies with nine over 36 holes, and recorded the second-best average on par four courses at The Fort Golf Resort.
The Transylvania men's golf team returns to play Sunday, September 17 at Tunica National Golf Course in Robinsonville, Mississippi for the two-day Rhodes Invitational.
