Greenwood, Ind. – Transylvania junior men's golfer Zach Treilobs has been selected as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week for men's golf, the conference announced Monday.
Treilobs, a junior from Paris, Kentucky (Bourbon County HS), led the Pioneers men's golf team to a third-place finish at this weekend's Yellow Jacket Invitational at the Eagle Rock Golf Club in Defiance, Ohio. Treilobs carded a one-over 71 in both rounds of the two-round tournament to finish with a two-day score of 142 to finish in second place on the individual leaderboard.
Through Treilobs's performance, the Pioneers placed third on the team leaderboard out of 17 participating teams. Treilobs finished second on the leaderboard out of 99 individual golfers and finished with the lowest score of golfers from the HCAC.
The 142 score represented Treilobs's best two-round score of the 2017-2018 season. The identical single-round 71's are also career-best round lows for Treilobs.
It is the first conference player of the week award won by Treilobs in his career and the fourth award won by a Transylvania men's golf in the 2017-2018 season.
Treilobs and his Pioneer teammates now look ahead to the 2018 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championships beginning Saturday, April 28 in Indianapolis, Indiana at the Fort Golf Club for the first two rounds before shifting to the Eagle Rock Golf Club in Defiance, Ohio the following weekend for the third and fourth rounds.
