Lexington, Ky. – The reboot of the Transylvania diving team has been set in motion with the addition of Noah Richter as the program's diving coach, effective for the 2019-2020 season.
A former NCAA Division I diving athlete at the University of Kentucky, Richter joins the Transylvania swimming and diving program where he will begin coaching the diving team in varsity competition beginning in fall of 2019.
The Transylvania swimming and diving program last fielded a diving team in the 2015-2016 season. Under the guidance of second-year head coach Dave Doolin, the program's expansion has allowed for the reintroduction of the diving program at Transylvania.
"We're very excited about having someone with Noah's experience and background in diving joining our program here at Transy," commented Doolin of Richter's hiring. "By adding a diving team, this is one way our program will be able to compete on an annual basis for conference championships. Noah's experience and demeanor and the way in which he interacts with athletes makes him a great addition to our staff and Transylvania athletic family."
Richter brings five years of varied coaching experience to the Transylvania swimming and diving program. He currently serves as the head diving coach for Fayette County Public Schools, coaching 30 high-school athletes in diving across five different high schools. Richter also is responsible for the coordination of dive meet events in this capacity.
Along with his role with Fayette County, Richter holds the title of Head Diving Coach at the Lexington Country Club, working with over 30 athletes and providing diving instruction. In his past, Richter has also worked as an assistant diving coach and head strength coach with the Kentucky Dive Club, entailing designing daily workouts and conditioning programs for divers.
As an athlete, Richter competed for Kentucky from 2013 through 2017 where he excelled as a diver for the Wildcats, recording top-10 program scores for platform diving and was named to the SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll multiple times.
