Danville, Ky. – The Transylvania track and field team made the familiar annual trip to Danville to compete in the Centre Twilight Meet at Farris Stadium on Friday night.
The Pioneers continued their recent trend of record-breaking performances by winning two events and breaking five school records at the meet.
Transylvania's first victory came via Taylor Allen, who took first in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.40, a new school record. The performance is the fastest in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference this season. The freshman also anchored the Transylvania women's 4x400 meter relay team that took second place on Friday.
Taking first in the women's javelin throw with a throw of 34.81 meters was junior Rian Boelter. The mark stands as a new school record and ranks third in the HCAC this season.
Boelter also picked up a fourth-place finish in the women's triple jump event and a fifth-place finish in the women's long jump event.
Hakeim Reedel also provided the Pioneers with a new school record in the men's long jump with a jump of 6.61 meters.
Transylvania's final two record-setting performances came from freshmen distance runners Jacob Burnam and Darrell Corn. Burnam posted a fifth-place finish in the men's 800 meters with a time of 1:55.78, while Corn finished 13th in the 5,000-meter run, clocking in at 16:39.03.
The Pioneers will be back in action on Saturday, April 20 as they travel down Broadway to take part in the Kentucky Invitational. The meet is set for a 10:00 a.m. start at the UK Track & Field Complex.
