Transylvania cross country squads selected eighth in HCAC preseason polls

Greenwood, Ind. – For first-year Transylvania cross country coach Taylor Throckmorton, the immediate task at hand is to develop a championship-caliber cross country program.

That road begins this week with the commencement of practice and Wednesday's annual release of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll. In the 2017 survey of the conference's 10 coaches, both the Transylvania men's and women's cross country teams have been slated to finish in eighth place.

Throckmorton, in his first year at Transylvania, inherits a men's team which placed eighth at last season's HCAC cross country championships, and a women's squad which finished seventh at the 2016 HCAC championships.

The 2017 cross country season kicks off for the Transylvania men's and women's team on Friday, September 1 as the Pioneers venture south to Berea College in Berea, Kentucky for an evening meet.
