Lexington, Ky. - The No. 20 Transylvania women's basketball team will welcome the last three standing teams in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference for the semifinals and championship of the 2019 HCAC Women's Basketball Conference Tournament on Friday-Saturday, February 22 and 23 at the Clive M. Beck Center.

By putting together a 17-1 record in HCAC regular-season play, the Pioneers (23-2 overall) finished in first place for the first time in four seasons, clinching the No. 1 seed along with hosting rights in the conference tournament.

Having received a first-round bye along with No. 2 seed Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (19-6, 16-2 HCAC), the Pioneers will face the No. 5 seed Defiance College Yellow Jackets (10-16, 8-10 HCAC) in Friday's first semifinal game at 6:00 p.m., followed by Rose-Hulman taking on No. 3 seed Hanover College (19-7, 14-4 HCAC) at 8:00 p.m. Defiance won over No. 4 seed Mount St. Joseph University (14-12, 9-9 HCAC) on Tuesday while Hanover held serve at home versus No. 6 seed Bluffton (9-17, 7-11 HCAC).

The winner of Friday's semifinal games will advance to Saturday's 5:00 p.m. HCAC Tournament Championship game. The winner of the Conference championship will be awarded the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament, which begins the following Friday, March 1.

Rose-Hulman enters as the three-time reigning champions of the conference tournament, defeating Bluffton in the 2016 championship game, and Transylvania in the last two championship contests. Transylvania is aiming for its first conference tournament championship since 2014, when the Pioneers defeated Hanover, 110-70 in the championship game.

Both Friday semifinal games and Saturday's championship game will be broadcast live on the Transy Sports Network.

Admission for each session is $8 for adults, $5 for seniors ages 65 and older, and $5 for children ages 12-17. Children ages 11 and under, and faculty, staff, and students with an official HCAC institution ID are admitted for free.
