Browns Summit, N.C. – Transylvania sophomore women's golfer Meredith Moir carded a two-day score of 153 to lead the Transylvania women's golf team Tuesday at the Callaway Golf Spring Invite at Bryan Park Players Course hosted by Greensboro College.
Moir shot a four-over par 76 in Monday's first round and followed it up with a second-round 77 to finish at nine-over par for the tournament, good for a sixth place tie on the individual leaderboard. Moir finished four strokes off of a top-two finish on the way to leading the Pioneers to an eight-place finish out of 13 participating teams.
Coming in second among Pioneer individuals was sophomore Jenna Soderling, who shot a two-round 162 to place 17th out of a field of 63 golfers.
Soderling posted the best hole-by-hole average on par three courses, while Moir was the leader on par four and par five courses. Moir also tied for the third-most amount of birdies among any participant with five for the round, while parring 20 holes.
Besides Moir, who finished with a respectable 77 after her four-over 76 on Monday, every other Pioneer improved upon their first-round score on Tuesday.
The tournament marked the final road event of the year for the Pioneers women's golf team, who will wrap up their season by hosting the Transylvania Spring Invitational on Saturday, April 29 at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
