Nicholasville, Ky. – Transylvania women's golf sophomore Lexie Lamar had a round to remember on Saturday in the first round of the HCAC Preview Tournament at Keene Run Golf Course.
Playing on the par 73 course at Keene Run, the site of next month's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference hosted by Transylvania, Lamar carded a five-over par 78 to lead the way for the Pioneers in Saturday's first round. Lamar's performance slotted the sophomore in fourth place on the individual leaderboard out of 83 players.
Lamar's teammates also came through with consistent performances as three of her other four participating teammates all turned in identical scores of 82. Those nine-over par rounds belonged to juniors Meredith Moir and Jenna Soderling, along with sophomore Rachel Fine.
With four players all in the top-14 on the individual leaderboard after round one, the Pioneers secured second place on the team leaderboard with one round to go on Sunday. Transylvania's team score of 324 slots the Pioneers 10 strokes back of first place UT-Dallas, and four strokes ahead of third-place Centre College.
The field of 83 players and 14 teams resumes play at Keene Run at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Sunday.
