Greenwood, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference has named Transylvania women's golf junior Jenna Soderling as the HCAC Player of the Week for Women's Golf.
Soderling, a junior from Central City, Kentucky (Muhlenberg County HS) fielded her best showing of the 2017 season at last week's Montgomery C.C. Intercollegiate event in Montgomery, Alabama.
Soderling shot a two-over par 75 in Monday's second and final round of the tournament to compile a two-round score of 157, good for eighth place on the individual leaderboard. Soderling placed eighth out of 50 competitors and had the two best individual rounds of any of her teammates over two rounds.
Soderling's performance led the Pioneers to a fifth-place finish out of nine teams at the event which served as the final tune-up before this weekend's HCAC Women's Golf Championships, hosted by Transylvania at Keene Run Golf Course.
Monday's accolade is the first player of the week award of Soderling's career and the second player of the week award collected by a Pioneer women's golfer in 2017 (Meredith Moir – September 25).
Soderling and the Pioneers complete the fall portion of their schedule at this weekend's HCAC Golf Championships. Round one is scheduled for Saturday morning at Keene Run Golf Course and more information on the event can be found HERE.
