Lexington, Ky. – On what proved to be a sweltering day on the pitch, the Transylvania women's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision to the Webster University Gorloks on Saturday afternoon at Pat Deacon Stadium.
The Pioneers faced an early uphill climb as they conceded a pair goals to the Gorloks within the first six minutes of play.
After falling behind, Transylvania stepped up its defensive pressure and the score remained 2-0 heading into the halftime break.
Just three minutes into the second half, a beautiful pass from junior midfielder Noel Obata set up junior forward Cecilia Walton, who fired a shot from outside the box that rocked the crossbar before ricocheting into the goal.
However, the Gorloks responded with another pair of goals over the final 40 minutes of action, pushing the final score to 4-0 in favor of Webster.
With the loss, the Pioneers record now moves to 2-4-1 on the season with just two games remaining before Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play begins.
The Pioneers will now face a quick turnaround as they return to the pitch to face the Ohio Northern Polar Bears on Sunday afternoon.
First touch between the Pioneers and the Polar Bears is set for 1:00 p.m. at Pat Deacon Stadium.
