Lexington, Ky. – Freshman forward Ashley Chindo scored her first collegiate goal and the Transylvania women's soccer team collected its first victory of the season by way of a 1-0 result over the Alma College Scots at Pat Deacon Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Transylvania possessed the ball well throughout the game and created numerous offensive opportunities for the Pioneer attackers who outshot the Scots 12-4 on the day.

Transylvania's first scoring chance came in the 4th minute when freshman defensive back Morgan Fowler received a pass off a corner kick and sent a header towering over the goal.

The two teams continued to battle over possession, but there were no more goals to be found in the first half.

Freshman goalkeeper Morgan Patton got the start in net for the Pioneers and recorded three saves in a strong first half of play.

Transylvania's scoring opportunity came in the 59th minute when Chindo redirected a pass from freshman midfielder Annie Stauffer off the side of her head and into the back of the net to give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead.

The electrifying goal held up as the only score of the game as the Pioneers claimed their first victory of the young season.

Senior goalkeeper Ally Barfield picked up the victory for the Pioneers after entering the game in relief of Patton to start the second half.

Next up for the Pioneers is a matchup with the John Carroll University Blue Streaks on Friday, September 7. First touch between the Pioneers and the Blue Streaks is set for 7:00 p.m. at Pat Deacon Stadium.
