Transylvania women’s tennis battles, falls at Rose-Hulman in conference meeting

Lexington, Ky. – The Transylvania women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Fightin' Engineers on Sunday afternoon.  

The Pioneers picked up their first win of the day when the team of junior Kearstin Bruther and sophomore Lucy Herrington fought their way to an 8-5 win in No. 3 doubles action.

The No. 5 singles match was one of the most competitive of the day as Bruther claimed the first set against Linde Schaffer 6-3, before dropping the last two 1-6, (5-10).

After a string of Rose-Hulman victories in singles play, freshman Madison Campbell earned a 6-3, 6-4 Transylvania victory in the No. 6 singles matchup.

Up next, the Pioneers will break from Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play as they visit the in-state rival Centre College Colonels on Wednesday, September 27. The match between the Pioneers and the Colonels is set for a 4:30 p.m. start at the Centre College Tennis Courts.
