Transylvania's Porsche Robinson earns third HCAC Player of the Week award in 2018

Greenwood, Ind. – Transylvania women's tennis freshman Porsche Robinson has been awarded Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors for the week of October 8, the conference announced Tuesday.

Robinson, a freshman from Houston, Texas (Stratford HS) earned her third player of the week honors of the 2018 HCAC season after going 4-0 in individual matches while leading the Transylvania women's tennis team to a 2-0 week, picking up wins against HCAC opponents Mount St. Joseph and Defiance. The Pioneers put together a perfect week in delivering a pair of 9-0 wins against both teams.

The freshman began her week with a victory at No. 1 doubles, teaming with fellow freshman Jessica Burton to win 8-1 against the Mount St. Joseph duo of Blake Nelson and Hanna Broermann before prevailing 6-1, 6-0 in her No. 1 singles match against Nelson.

Robinson maintained an undefeated week with a pair of wins on Saturday against Defiance; at No. 1 doubles Robinson and Burton delivered an 8-2 win. Robinson completed her week with a 6-3, 6-1 win against Defiance's Hannah Hesterman in No. 1 singles.

It is the third player of the week award collected by a Transylvania women's tennis player in the 2018 fall season.

Robinson and the Pioneers are next scheduled to compete on Wednesday, October 10 as they visit the Earlham College Quakers in Richmond, Indiana for a 4:00 p.m. match.
