DANVILLE, Ky. - Centre broke open a tight contest with seven second-half goals Saturday and went on to an 11-0 shutout of Transylvania in college field hockey action.

Transy is 1-6 on the season while the Colonels are 7-2.

Centre got its first goal just a minute into the game and scored again seven minutes later for a 2-0 advantage. It was 4-0 at intermission.

Centre took command in the second half, getting four goals in the first 15 minutes of the period.

The Colonels had a 31-18 edge in shots as Erin Bacon and Chelsea Klein each scored three goals off the bench. Transy's Anna Melnykovych (Louisville, Ky.) was credited with eight saves in goal.

The Pioneers return to action next Saturday, traveling to Rhodes for noon match.
