DANVILLE, Ky. - Transylvania spotted Centre a 4-0 halftime lead Sunday and the Pioneers went on to lose a 6-1 college field hockey decision.
The Pioneers are 3-12 on the season while Centre improves to 10-5.
Centre outshot Transy 15-2 in the first half on the way to a four-goal margin at halftime. The game tightened considerably in the second period when Transy held the Colonels to nine attempts while taking five.
Transy's goal came on a shot by
Molly Dean in the 62nd minute and
Kerri Kolarik had the assist.
Sara Aschbacher had 17 saves in goal for Transy.
The Pioneers are back in action on Saturday when they conclude regular season play with a 1 p.m. contest against Trine at Hall Field. It will be Senior Day as fourth-year players
Laura Hammer,
Alexis Schuman,
Ruth Kloha, and
Amelia Reesor.
Transy will also compete in the Independent's Tournament, hosted by Christopher Newport, on Nov. 5-6.
