INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Transylvania's men's tennis team swept into the 2013 Heartland Conference Tournament Finals Saturday with a 5-0 romp over Franklin at the West Indy Racquet Club.
Transy topped the Grizzlies in one semifinal while the top seeded Earlham team topped Rose-Hulman 5-0 in the other semifinal. Franklin advanced to face the PIoneers with a 5-0 decision over Defiance.
The HCAC Championship will be played at 10 a.m. Sunday at the West Indy Racquet Club with the winner gaining an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship. Last year, Transy lost to the Quakers, 5-2. The Pioneers are seeking their first title since 2011.
Transy moves to 12-7 overall while Franklin finishes its season with an 11-7 mark. Earlham, seeking a third straight tourney title, is 18-2.
