Transylvania women’s basketball adds Bluffton, Morehead State to upcoming schedule

12/11/2020 6:49:00 PM

Lexington, Ky. – For the second straight weekend, the Transylvania women's basketball team will play at home, hosting a familiar foe in the Bluffton University Beavers on Saturday, December 12 at 2:00 p.m. at the Clive M. Beck Center.

The Pioneers will then visit Division I Morehead State University in an interstate matchup on Tuesday, December 15 at Johnson Arena on the campus of Morehead State for a 7 p.m. tip.

Both matchups are recent additions to the Pioneers' fluid 2020-21 schedule and sets up the first meeting of the year between Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference teams Transy and Bluffton.

Because of the pandemic-shortened HCAC conference schedule, condensed from 18 games to 13 games, Saturday's contest will serve as one of two meetings this season between the Pioneers and Beavers, with their lone conference matchup scheduled for February 15, 2021 in Bluffton, Ohio.

Transylvania took on the Beavers three times last season, winning all three contests, including the HCAC Tournament Semifinal by a score of 74-45.

Tuesday's matchup at Morehead State pits a showdown between two interstate neighbors separated roughly one hour apart. The showdown also marks a reunion of sorts as seventh-year head coach Juli Fulks squares off with Morehead State head coach Greg Todd, who coached at Transy from 2006 through 2014 and compiled a record of 157-64 over eight seasons overseeing the Pioneers women's basketball program.

In-person fan access is restricted for Saturday's game versus Bluffton in accordance with local COVID guidelines but can be viewed live online via the Transy Sports Network.

Limited tickets are available for Tuesday's game at Morehead State and are available via their ticketing website. Transy's game versus Morehead State will also be carried on ESPN+ online while live audio will also be available through MSUEagles.com.

Transylvania (1-2 overall) is playing for the first time in a week and is coming off its first win of the season, winning 48-26 over Adrian College last Saturday. The 26 points were the fewest by an opponent in the Juli Fulks era at Transy.

Bluffton's (6-0 overall) last two wins have each come over Adrian as well, winning 46-37 on December 7 and 70-66 in overtime on December 9.

Morehead State is 0-1 on the season with two contests pending against Eastern Kentucky University prior to next Tuesday's contest against Transy.
