Bloomington, Ill. – The Transylvania men's tennis team claimed a 9-0 victory over the Greenville University Panthers at the Evergreen Racquet Club on Friday night.
Arjun Gupta opened the day with an emphatic 6-1, 6-3 win over Greenville's Luke Motsinger in the No. 1 singles matchup.
Noah McNamee and
Nick McNamee kept the Pioneers rolling with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles.
In doubles play, Gupta and
Elijah Skaggs rolled to an 8-3 win followed by an 8-2 win by
Jared Wells and
Jon-Michael Schulte in No. 3 doubles action. The night's most exciting match came in the No. 2 doubles match, where the McNamee brothers earned an 8-6 win over Greenville's team of Motsinger and Tyler Blume.
The Pioneers will be back in action tomorrow afternoon when they face off against the Illinois Wesleyan Titans. The match is set for a 2:30 p.m. start at the Evergreen Racquet Club.
