Springfield, Oh. - The Transylvania women's lacrosse team notched their first win of the season Sunday afternoon, defeating the Wittenberg University Tigers 11-10 in a tense back and forth game.

Wittenberg struck first on the day, with back to back goals in the first two minutes. Unfazed, the Pioneers responded with five straight scores of their own, to forge a 5-2 lead. The Tigers narrowed the deficit to 5-4, until a late tally by Vianne Koshoffer with 31 seconds left in the half put Transy up 6-4 at the midway point.

Koshoffer, Abbey Peterson, and Mandi Rider lead the Pioneers offense in the first half, each scoring two goals.

Transylvania jumped out of the gates to the second half, as Lindy Walker and Diana Bruder found the back of the net in the first two minutes to form an 8-4 lead. The Tigers fought back with two of their own, until Rider notched the hat trick with an unassisted goal.

The final ten minutes of the contest proved to be quite an ending. Bruder's second goal of the afternoon put the Pioneers in control, up 11-7 at the 07:48 mark. The Tigers battled back with three straight goals, but Transylvania held strong in the final minute to earn the win, 11-10.

Besides her two goals and one assist, Bruder filled the stat sheet all over, with four caused turnovers and grabbing four ground balls. Charlotte Green led the team in draw controls with seven, and Ysa Leon also made an impact with four ground balls.

Goaltender Abi Waldron earned her first win of the season after a 10 save performance.

Up next for Transylvania, the Wooster Fighting Scots come to Pat Deacon Stadium next Saturday, February 26, for a 1:00 scheduled start.
