Juli Fulks Coach of the Year

Transylvania's Juli Fulks named HCAC women's basketball Coach of the Year

Carmel, Ind. - Transylvania head women's basketball coach Juli Fulks has been named HCAC Women's basketball Coach of the Year, the conference announced on Wednesday. This is Fulks' fourth time in her career, third time with Transylvania, that she has won coach of the year honors for her respective conference. 

Fulks has led the Pios to their best regular season in school history, going an astonishing, undefeated, 21-0 and the team is currently ranked nationally at the #2 spot, trailing only Christopher Newport in Virginia. 

The undefeated Pioneers are currently one of the only three teams in the nation to go undefeated through this point in the season. They are defeating opponents by an average of 25.6 points-per-game, which ranks 7th in the country. 

It was also announced on Wednesday that the Transylvania women's basketball team had four players make all-conference team honors. Those players were juniors Madison Kellione (first team), Kennedi Stacy (first team), Laken Ball (second team), and Dasia Thornton (honorable mention). These players have been a huge part of the team's success this season.

The Pios are led in scoring by Kellione who is averaging 17.1 points per-game, shooting a red-hot 41% from beyond the arc. Kellione is also averaging 3.6 assists along with 3.3 rebounds per-game. On the defensive side of the ball Kellione is a lockdown defender, averaging 2.1 steals per-game. 

Stacy is the Pioneers second leading scorer, averaging 13.1 points per game. She is also the second leading rebounder on the team with a per-game average of 6.3. Stacy is another defensive force for the Transylvania basketball team, currently averaging 1.9 steals per-game.

Ball is averaging 12.7 points per-game and leads the team in field goal percentage with a clip of nearly 50% from the field as well as shooting 79% from the free-throw line. She is also second on the team in blocks with a total of 14 on the season.

Thornton has continued to be a consistent performer for the Pioneers, scoring double figures in 12 games this season. She makes a huge impact with her rebounding, leading the team with 8.1 boards per game, resulting in four double doubles in the 2022 season. 

The Pioneers, led by these players along with coach Fulks are playing in their conference tournament semi-finals this Friday at 5 PM against Rose-Hulman at the Beck Center.
