Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Peterson records 13 points as Transylvania women's lacrosse defeat Mount St. Joseph 24-3

Cincinnati, Oh. – The Transylvania women's lacrosse team continued to roll in HCAC play, this time defeating the Mount St. Joseph University Lions 24-3. Several Pioneers had unreal offensive performances, as the team put a wrap on the regular season with an exclamation mark of a victory. They finish the regular season going undefeated in the conference.

Transy made quite the impression in the first quarter, as by the end they held a 13-1 lead. Lindy Walker broke the scoring open 33 seconds into the contest, and the squad quickly piled onto it. Walker and Abbey Peterson each had first quarter hat tricks, Peterson with four tallies. Diana Bruder and Charlotte Green each added two goals themselves, and scores from Vianne Koshoffer as well as Linley Dawson made up the early barrage.

Green completed the hat trick at the 11:08 mark of the second, and Peterson's fifth of the game came shortly after. Mandi Rider and Lula Thompson found the back of the net as well, to give Transylvania a 17-1 lead at the midway point.

The Lions responded with the first goal of the second half, but Linley Dawson gave one right back. From there, finally the scoring slowed down a bit as the goals, one from each side, were all for the third quarter. The Pioneers held an 18-2 lead with one period remaining.

Ysa Leon opened the scoring for the fourth with an assist from Dawson. Leon was then the one providing a helper, on Tanya Barbee's tally at the 13:00 mark. The goal that made 20 on the day for the Pioneers also became the first-year attacker's first career goal. Mount St. Joseph added one three minutes later, but Thompson scored her second, Walker her fourth, and two more from Peterson to add up to 7 for the junior in the game.

The 24 goals on the day become a new season high for the team. Peterson's incredible final stat line gives her a new single-game career high for goals (7), assists (6), as well as points (13). After setting a new career high last night with 4 goals against Earlham, the senior Walker matched the feat yet again, to go along with 5 ground balls.

Much like last night, goalies Abi Waldron and Amara Wagner each contributed in goal, this time splitting the game in half with 30 minutes played apiece. Waldron takes the win, and Wagner added 4 saves to the effort.

With the regular season in the books, and the Pioneers atop the conference standings, they are expected to host the HCAC Tournament which begins on Wednesday, March 4th. Final decisions on the tournament have yet to be determined. Stay tuned on transysports.com and @TransySports on Twitter for more information.
