LEXINGTON - Transy Field Hockey hosted their final match of the season, taking on NCAC foe Depauw to close the season. The Pioneers lost a heartbreaker in overtime 2-1, playing one of their best games of the season.
Depauw and Transy held each other scoreless in the first half, but the Tigers scored their first goal two minutes into the second half. Transy's defense shook off 9 of 10 shots in the four quarters versus Depauw.
Libby Bringard finished with 9 saves in the game.
Down but not out, it was only fitting that Transy senior
Catherine Harney scored the game tying goal with just six minutes left in the game to make it 1-1. It was Catherine's 4th goal of the season and only Transy's second shot on goal of the game. The goal would force overtime, the third straight game that the Pioneers found themselves in OT.
Depauw's Ella Mickey scored the game winning goal just six minutes into OT to give the Tigers the 2-1 win and the 3 seed in the NCAC tournament.
The Pioneers finish the season 5-13 overall and 1-9 in the NCAC
