Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

#15 Pioneers fly past Asbury in 3-0 sweep

LEXINGTON - #15 Transy Volleyball did #15 nationally ranked things in the dominant 3-0 sweep over Kentucky for Asbury. The Pioneers dominated all match, leaving no room for Asbury to do much of anything and left the Clive M. Beck Center with their fourth win in a row and third sweep in a row, 25-10, 25-8, and 25-16. Transy did not trail at any point in the win.

The win moves Transy to 13-5 on the season and 3-2 all time vs the Eagles. Transy has swept Asbury in all three wins dating back to 2012.

Transy's offense exploded early, leaping to a  12-4 lead. Asbury struggled the entire set to spark any offense or find a way to stop the Pioneer attack. 4 of Asbury's first 8 points came off of Transy service and attack errors.

In set two, Alex O'Connor served for 10 straight Pioneer points. Cate Scheper and Grace Ward had kills in the rally. The Eagles made five mistakes during the rally. The 25-8 set win tied the largest set victory of the season for Transy. The Pioneers last won a set 25-8 against Spalding in mid-September which also ended in a sweep.

Although closer than the previous two, Transy again dominated the final set and came away with their fourth straight victory as they head into Friday's HCAC matchup vs Franklin.

As a team, Transy had one of its best statistical games this season. TU hit .455 on the night, its best of the season. Transy also finished with just 5 attack errors, its lowest of the season. Asbury's 3 kills in set two is the lowest the Pioneers have held an opponent to this season.

Stats from the night

Cate Scheper finished the match with 11 kills. Suzanne Klosterman finished with 6. Grace Ward finished with 29 assists. Ava Beltsos finished with 9 digs and Alex O'Connor finished with 5. Cecelia Roberts finished with 5 kills on the night and Addie Atcher finished with 6. Maggie Harrison finished with 4 digs.

Gianna Pixler earned her first assists of the season in the win, as did Freshman Jenna Carter.

The Pioneers host Franklin Friday night at 7 PM at the Clive M. Beck Center. They'll look to move to 13-3 all time vs the Grizzlies and win their 7th of their last 8 matchups vs Franklin.
