GREENCASTLE, Ind. - No. 1 Transylvania Women's Basketball won their season opener and extended the longest winning streak in NCAA DIII to 34 games with a 60-50 road victory at Depauw on Sunday afternoon. Three different Pioneers reached double digit points in the win.
Transy went into the second quarter up 16-13 and had their defense put on a clinic. The Pioneers held the Tigers to just four points in the second quarter, and began the quarter with a 9-2 run. TU would go into the half up 32-17.
Transylvania would be outscored 8-12 in the third quarter and twenty-one to twenty in the final quarter, but the dominant first half proved to be too much for the Tigers.
With the win, Transylvania picks up their first ever win in program history over Depauw, and snaps a 13 game season opening win streak for the Tigers. It's the 370th career win for head coach
Juli Fulks.
