Box Score FRANKLIN, Ind- No. 1 Transylvania Women's Basketball won their 39th straight game in the first road trip in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play. The Pioneers won 73-46 vs Franklin College in dominating fashion to improve to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in HCAC play.
Tonight was all about the bigs as both
Dasia Thornton and
Laken Ball led the team in scoring. Thornton finished the night with 17 points 7 rebounds, and 4 blocks as Ball finished with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Transylvania dominated in the paint as they would outscore the Grizzlies by 22 in the paint.
This game was close until the second quarter when the Pioneers turned up the energy, holding the Grizzlies to only 3 points in the quarter to go into halftime up 32-16.
Sydney Wright would contribute the whole game earning 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
Off the bench, freshman Riley Finn had a season high 8 points and a season high 3 rebounds as guard play was consistent with both starting guards
Sadie Wurth and
Kennedi Stacy would combine for 12 of the 21 assists this game.
"Our defense was solid tonight and we got an especially good effort in the second quarter." Head Coach
Juli Fulks said. "I thought our bench did a good job of bringing energy and contributing on the court to help extend our runs and limit Franklin."
The Pioneers shot 51% from the field and 33% from beyond the arc as all active Pioneers saw the floor tonight.
Transylvania remains on the road for the next three games as they continue HCAC play, facing Manchester University Saturday December 9th at 1:00 PM, in North Manchester Indiana.
