Associate Head Coach Hannah Varel earns first coaching win

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The top ranked Transylvania Women's Basketball team moved to 7-0 on the season and earned their 40th consecutive win this afternoon with a 40 point victory over Manchester. The Pioneers moved to 3-0 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference after the 83-43 win.

Associate Head Coach Hannah Varel earned her first collegiate head coaching win, filling in for Head Coach Juli Fulks who was out with an illness.

"Our coaching staff always operates as a collective unit so this was just another team win." Varel said after the win.

With the win, Transylvania has now tied Texas and St. Thomas Minnesota for the 22nd longest winning streak in NCAA history. It's tied for 10th longest in NCAA DIII history.

The Pioneers are now 15-1 all time against Manchester, and are winners of the last 12 matchups.

All 17 Pioneers saw action in the win. 15 different Pioneers scored in the 40 point victory. It's the second largest margin of victory this season for Transylvania.

"I'm extremely proud of our veteran group that knows how to be adaptable. We're continuing to improve our patience on offense and take the upmost pride in our defensive habits." Varel said. "This team thrives with the target on their back and realizes how unique and extraordinary it is to win forty straight games."

The Pioneers will stay on the road for their next two contests, facing Bluffton on Monday, December 18th at 4 PM and Spalding on Wednesday, December 20th at 2 PM.
